Band Updates 2/21/18

BAND BANQUET – Thursday, April 5th at 6:30pm at The First Baptist Church of Pell City.
The theme this year is: FIESTA! Band students eat for free — guests will be $10 each. Please sign up in the Band Hall. Make checks payable to PCHS BAND BOOSTERS.

SHEET FUNDRAISER — These have been ordered and should be here in the next 2-3 weeks. I will notify everyone when I have a delivery date. We will need some parent help with distribution.

SPRING TRIP — Payment #2 has been sent off and everything is moving right along. The next payment (#3 – $200) must be paid by FRIDAY, MARCH 12TH. I will need to start removing names from the list for non-payment. If you have a situation, please contact me and refresh my memory!

AUXILIARY MEETING — We will have a REQUIRED meeting for those who wish to try out for next fall’s auxiliary (Colorguard, Danceline and Majorette) on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 27th AT 6:30PM IN THE PCHS BANDHALL. You MUST attend if you wish to try out.

MPA – Musical Performance Assessment (MPA) – The Symphonic Band will be traveling to Gadsden City High School on Wednesday, February 28th to participate. A panel of 4 judges will adjudicate our performance of selected Concert Band music. Students will need to stay at school on Wednesday and we will leave at 4:00PM. Make sure they bring their tuxes and dresses to school that day. Performance time is 6:30PM. We will then go to the Gadsden Mall to eat in the food court before coming back to Pell City. We will return at approximately 9:00 — 9:30PM.

MPA REHEARSALS — Thursday, February 22nd 3:00 — 4:30PM and Monday, February 26th 3:00 — 4:30 PM. THESE ARE MANDATORY REHEARSALS TO PARTICIPATE IN MPA.

ST. CLAIR COUNTY HONOR BAND 2018 – March 16-17. Ragland High School will be hosting this. The schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, March 13: Auditions-4:00 PM until done.
Friday, March 16: Rehearsals-8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Saturday, March 17: Rehearsals-9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, Concert at 11:00 AM.

Audition Material:
Winds: 3 Chromatically Adjacent Scales (2 octaves for H.S. Flutes and Clarinets) and Sight Reading.
Percussion: Snare-Long Roll and Single Stroke Roll, Slow Fast Slow and Sight Reading.
Mallets – 3 Chromatically Adjacent scales and Sight Reading. Timpani-Sight Reading.

The cost is $20. Includes medal and lunch on Friday. DEADLINE TO REGISTER AND TURN IN MONEY IS THURSDAY MARCH 8TH.Make checks payable to PCHS Band.

LEADERSHIP 2018-2019 — Application packets will be available on Monday, March 12th for those students who wish to be on the PCHS BAND OF GOLD leadership team. Completed packets must be turned in by Tuesday, March 20th.

SPRING CONCERT — We will be having our annual Spring Concert on TUESDAY, MARCH 20TH AT 6:30PM IN THE CEPA GYM. All bands will perform. The concert will start at 6:30PM. PLAN TO STAY FOR THE ENITRE CONCERT!

DRUM MAJOR TRYOUTS — these are scheduled for Thursday, March 22nd. Clinic dates have not been set but will be available soon.
