April 24, 2019 Update

Greetings from the band hall,


The end of the year is rapidly approaching and I don’t think we can slow it down. Here are some exciting going ons in the band world.


Who’s who voting

We will be voting on the Who’s who for the band program. Come by the band room to place your vote. This is the link to the google form that we will use to organize votes. You must be a current band member in good standing to vote. You will also have to be logged into your School google account to vote. Talladega Race

High School Students that signed up will have an awesome opportunity this Saturday. The National Guard reached out to the Pell City BoG for volunteers to hold the flag at the infield of the Talladega Speedway for the National Anthem on Saturday’s race. Those that signed up will be giving the opportunity to receive some pit passes and be able to watch a little bit of the beginning of the race. For those that signed up. Please be at the school this Saturday at 6:30 am. The bus will roll out at 7:00am. We will return approximately at 3-4:00pm. Pack some food for the trip because food is very expensive in the infield. Please wear you gold dry fit shirts and blue jeans. Due to the environment of the garage and pit, blue jeans will need to be worn to get up close to certain places. We also want to be matching because of the possibility of being televised.


Band Banquet

May 2 will be the annual band banquet. It will be at First Baptist’s Auditorium at 6 pm. Our theme this year is “Southern.” Come dressed in your best southern outfit and be ready to eat and celebrate the year! All current band students will be able to come to the banquet with no cost. It will cost $15 for each additional guest. You can prepay or buy additional tickets at the front door. If you have any additional questions please contact Wendy Davis at 1-205-812-4998


Commitment Forms

We are trying to get numbers squared away for next year’s Marching Band of Gold. Please make sure your student has talked with you about the commitment form and get them turned in with the $25 reservation fee (this is their first payment for their band fee for next year) by this Friday. All auxiliary members have already been accounted.


Band Fees

We are getting close to the end of the year and band fees need to handled before we go home for the summer. Seniors, the school wants all fees paid before you get your diploma. Auxiliary, If you are still owing from the past year, a probationary status may be placed on you that will keep us from ordering your next year’s uniform or keep you from performing. Please reach out to me if you foresee any issues with paying your fees.



Graduation is May 23. I will be sending out information about call time when I get more details.
